Revving School Gears

The sun was setting like way too fast. Orange streaks and pink rays harshly peeled the sky of its light. The clouds waved about the impending dimness as if to bid the day goodbye. A few moments later, they did. The first star appeared somewhere north, above the horizon I was staring at just a few moments ago. Not long, the others followed, twinkling as always. Things transpire quickly, and more often than not, I become left behind. I breathe out a sigh and was pulled back to reality, to where I am supposed to be, to where I belonged: Classroom (South building, 2nd floor, 9th room). The professor was babbling about something important- something about starting the term right. I didn’t listen for I already know that it’s just the same jibber jabber every term but I’d rather play deaf that fill my ears with such repetitiveness. Review well. Take notes. Read the next chapters. And on and on…

Did I take those words for granted? Possibly, but not wholly.

What happened from the previous week appears to have been an age ago! It was a time of vacation, short maybe, but a vacation nonetheless. I scratched my brow to waken my senses however I was still half-asleep and half-wondering. Was it just me or have I been fooled to take classes during summer? Doesn’t matter, I’m here now. It’s probably best to make the most out of this three month streak of lectures and tests. After all, taking 15 units for a term is tough. I got to get my form now, focus, concentrate. This delicate-minded professor just dismissed the class with a few departing words, “I’m still sleepy too”. I can’t help but smile and say, “Right, me too.” inside my head.

I should probably go dig my wits out of this holiday rust, and also rev up my school gears while at it. My classmates have managed to get past the door swiftly; perhaps I should pack my things now and leave. I definitely don’t want to be left behind- again.
